Surveillance

Whether you are looking for a home surveillance system or security cameras for your business, an on site evaluation from a trained CCTV installer can better help you find the right solution for your home or business. Here you can familiarize yourself with some of the options available to you before meeting with us for a free estimate or installation from J.Davis Electric.

Video surveillance cameras are becoming more popular and, most importantly, more accessible to the average person. Huge store chains or gated communities aren’t the only places than can afford the benefits of surveillance cameras anymore. They are available for your home and office needs, no matter how simple or how elaborate a setup you require.

Your home, your office, your store, your family -- these are just four reasons why you would want to purchase a video security camera. If you put your time, energy, and resources into these, why not take the extra step and insure what matters most to you? Video cameras designed specifically for surveillance give an extra measure of safety and security.

First, consider what you want to monitor: General comings and goings? Vehicles? Do you want to see faces, merchandise, crowds? Once you decide what you want to see, choosing CCTV components becomes easier.

Next, decide what picture quality you need. Quality can refer to both how detailed the image is and how fast the frame rateis. Frame rate is simply a measure of how many individual pictures make up the video. “Full motion,” what you see on television and on VHS tapes, is 30 frames per second, or fps. Most often, CCTV systems record at slower rates, which result in more jerky-looking images but saves hard drive space, allowing longer periods of time to be recorded. This can be an important factor for us to consider. A typical surveillance system consists of a DVR (Digital Video Recorder) with 500 gigabytes of hard drive space. The information from the camera is recorded digitally to the hard drive and is the purged or recorded over from the beginning of the hard rive starting from the earliest recorded time. With one camera installed at 30fps per second this could last months and months without recording over the previous archive. Add another camera to the equation and the time shortens, taking up more hard drive space in a shorter period of time. A Lot of homes or businesses we have provide solutions for require over 30 cameras, So how do we insure that they have adequate space and time for they're system?

Simple, Every DVR that we install utilizes motion detection grid technology, This allows for us to (x) out any unfavorible area in the cameas vision that causes normal or repetitive motion giving us the ability to record only the areas that we would like to monitor saving valuble hard drive space. This also gives us the ability to integrate your new surveillance system with your security system for added security

You should also decide whether your priority is to deter potential crimes or to catch perpetrators. Both can be important, but your priority will influence your purchasing decisions. If you are more interested in deterring certain activities, large, visible cameras are your best bet.

Remote DVR surveillance provides you with many unique features and options that you just simply cannot get with standard surveillance methods. With remote DVR security systems, you not only have access to view and monitor your Home or Business remotely, you also have the ability to perform many administrative functions remotely as well.

When it comes to remote DVR systems, there is more going on behind the scenes then you may realize. The basic concept behind remote video surveillance is to provide access to video images and camera configuration information through an IP network. In order to facilitate this process, most DVR recording devices incorporate a web server, which provides the ability to host digital images and other camera control functions on its own web page. With a web server in place to host the necessary digital information, any authorized user can log in through a standard web browser and gain access to the web page and corresponding data through standard HTTP protocol.

Carefully consider compression rate when choosing a Surveillance Equipment Installer-- The compression rate and transmission format of the captured video data will have a big impact on the quality of the image displayed. In general, the better the image quality, the more disk space required to store the image, and the longer it takes to transmit it remotely. We know there are a wide variety of surveilance companies to choose from. We install only quality products like Pelco, Nuvico, and Vitek. We install a wide selection of remote DVR units that can support from four all the way up to 48 surveillance cameras. Our DVRs facilitate remote video access as well as remote camera control abilities. We install only MPEG-4 and H.264 real time rate of compression units. This functionality ensures you will have access to quality playback images without the skipping that often occurs during remote video playback.
